Thijs Lodewijk (1973), known as LudoWic, is a Dutch musician, composer, and multidisciplinary artist whose work bridges experimental electronics, forgotten instruments, visual art, and sonic architecture. Born in Venlo and raised in Dongen, he grew up in a household where music and visual expression were inseparable. His father’s musicianship and mother’s visual sensibility formed the roots of a dual artistic identity he continues to explore today. After being accepted into both art school and the conservatory, he chose to study music at Codarts Conservatory in Rotterdam, a decision that set the foundation for his
hybrid practice.
LudoWic has performed at esteemed venues and festivals including Het Concertgebouw, Funkhaus Berlin, Eye Filmmuseum, ADE, Artonov Festival, and November Music. His concerts combine immersive sound with visual sensitivity, emphasizing the physicality of analog instruments. His online presence continues to grow rapidly, with a large following drawn to his rare-instrument demonstrations and expressive performance style. Today, LudoWic stands at the intersection of electronic music, historical instrument revival, contemporary art, and speculative sound design. Through analog sensitivity, visual thinking, and his dedication to rediscovering forgotten synthesizers, he continues to expand what music can reveal about memory, perception, and the future of sound.
